e: jilledelsteinlcsw at gmail dot com twitter: @attunedtherapy where: virtual, for the foreseeable future do you take insurance? *I am not currently accepting new insurance clients* Some Blue Cross Blue Shield plans I am otherwise out of network for most providers. I will gladly provide a monthly invoice. how does this work? Successful psychotherapy requires a strong, positive alliance between therapist and client. So initially - over the first six or so sessions - we will explore whether we are a good match (if we are not I will do my best to provide an appropriate referral). Those initial sessions will be devoted to learning about you, your needs, what brings you to therapy, and identifying your treatment goals. To build a solid therapeutic relationship that is more likely to result in you attaining your goals, weekly sessions (sometimes more) are best but brief consultation is another way of working. Sometimes I am brought into an existing therapy relationship for short-term, adjunctive EMDR. While I am not an analyst and you won't be lying on a couch with me behind you (we will work face to face with you determining the right distance between us), there is a couch and you are invited to take off your shoes and make yourself comfortable. |
really important
I suffer from acute chemical and mold sensitivity. This means that even the most benign (to you) fragrances (because "fragrances" - unless they are flowers, herbs or food are chemicals) can make me ill and unable to be present -- even if i can't smell them! So I have a non-negotiable fragrance-free policy. To prepare for our first meeting, kindly refrain from wearing perfume or cologne, or clothing that may have been worn while wearing cologne. Please refrain from wearing grooming products (shampoo, conditioner, hair product, lotion, deoderant) that are not explicitly labeled "fragrance free." Note that "natural" means absolutely nothing; essential oils, for the most part, are distilled with solvents which are my kryptonite. "Unscented" is actually the name of a scent used to cover other chemical odors. Ideally you would "de-scent" for at least 2 weeks before our first meeting. Any questions? please ask. I can guide you. But please don't "accidentally" show up for your session stinking! You will be responsible for paying because I set the time aside for you, and we will have to reschedule. If you live or work in a space where there is or has been water damage, mold, air fresheners or cigarette smoke, your clothing (as well as your hair) will carry the chemicals/spores. We can't do much about your hair, but kindly refrain from wearing those clothes to an office visit. Some of my clients leave a set of "therapy" clothes in my office and change into them. You are welcome to do that. If you are not already using fragrance-free laundry and other products, start now! But don't do it just for me. You will be healthier and happier, and so will your family. The psychiatric-emotional impact of toxic products and indoor spaces is not yet a hot topic in health or "mental" health yet, so congratulations! You are now on the cutting edge. |
